Welcome to Jonathan’s journey in southern Africa on his South African BMW motorbike. This diary will begin on January 25th. I will be roaming freely as the will takes me through as much or as little of South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and even Zimbabwe as proves possible – and enjoyable. Doubtless it will all be interesting. I write my diaries every night, the sole discipline of my many journeys around the globe. Sometimes I wonder if writing the journals is not in a way the reason for the journey!

Hello Jonathan – we’ve met in the pub when you were with Karri, but to my shame I still haven’t visited your interesting house, as we discussed briefly… I was reminded of this omission the other day by Sue Tregelles, who also told me of your travel blog. It’s lovely, excellent reading and beautifully written.
I’m off to France now, back mid-April, but I’d like to catch up with you on my return.

I’ve enjoyed ring your posts. Haven’t travelled much in Africa – though would like to. Have been to South Africa and share a lot of your feelings about the situation there.
